Embed a Comment Form in Blogger Posts

There is a simple and easy way to embed a basic comment form into all your Blogger blog posts. You don't even need to edit the template.

Blogger has provided an "embedded comment form" option for you.

It's not the prettiest, but it gets the job done. If you have comments allowed but don't use an embedded form, all you'll get is a little link inviting readers to "Post a Comment" - very bland. It also requires additional steps for the reader.

Worst of all, it's easy to overlook.
Start by logging into your Blogger blog. You should also be able to do this via "Blogger in Draft" (http://draft.blogger.com) but for some reason I didn't find it there myself.
  1. From your Dashboard, click "Settings".
  2. Click "Comments".
  3. Under "Comment Form Placement" click "Embedded below post" (see image)
  4. Click "Save Settings".
  5. Voila! You know have a nifty comment form after each post.
Be sure to revise your other comment settings - do you want everyone to be able to comment on your posts? Do you want to allow people to include trackbacks? You can even leave a little message to thank potential commentators.

This is yet another critical mistake that I made, that you can easily avoid. Here's to your blog starting out on the right track!

PS - I'd love to hear back from you about your blogscapades.
